130 questions. Answer them all, and make a list of the ones you got wrong. Go back and figure out why (refer to the video above and your notes if necessary, maybe Google some weather codes for the METARs and TAFs), and then retake these, repeating this process until you get 100% correct.
A number of the answers to the test questions are just common sense. Study your notes on the concepts that aren’t common sense before you take the test. THE HARDEST QUESTIONS ARE INVOLVING THE SECTIONAL CHARTS - devote some time to studying these, they can be very confusing if you haven’t seen them before.
Everyone plays up how difficult this test is. If you’re diligent and spend about 8 hours studying with the above materials and references, and use common sense on the day of the test, I would be very surprised if you didn’t pass. I used this method and got 85%, which the testing center I went to said was one of the highest scores they saw - and I’m not even very smart ;P
Don’t pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars for courses that will over-prepare you in some areas, and under-prepare you in others. Spend 8ish hours and the $150 for the test, and you’ll do just fine. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
